Icarus: 30 Years

Icarus is celebrating 30 Years in Boston's South End. That is certainly an exceptional feat, especially considering that it has only been recently that the South End has become a foodie mecca. In 1978, Chef-Owner Chris Douglass, was the first chef to serve “respectable" restaurant food in the then-ungentrified South End.

To commemorate the occasion, they are offering a $30 Prix Fixe every night during the month of July.

Highlights of the current 30th Birthday Menu, which will change weekly, are:
Summer Vegetable Soup au Pistou
Crispy Polenta with Westfield Farms Goat Cheese and Marinated Pepper Salad
Grilled Steak Salad with Gingered Sesame Noodles
Salad of Salt Cod, Cracked Wheat, Green Olives and Parsley
Grilled Bluefish & Smoked Shrimp Butter with Corn-Quinoa Pilaf
Duck Confit with Cherries, Mustard & Baby Lettuces
Angel Hair with Grilled Summer Squash Medley and Basil
Filet of Sole with Casco Bay Mussels and Saffron Cream
Lemon Panna Cotta with Raspberry Sauce
Peach Cobbler ala Mode
Decadent Chocolate Cake with Almond Anglaise

They are also offering special anniversary wines, such as Edmands St. John Rose' and Elio Grasso Nebbiolo. Add half a glass with each course for $15 extra; or a full glass with each course for $30 more.

Chef de Cuisine Bill Flumerfelt should be given credit for creating the 2008 summer prix fixe items shown above.
