South End Buttery

(Originally posted 9/2/06)

While hiking through the South End, we stopped at another bakery, the South End Buttery. This is a small, neighborhood bakery, located within a largely residential section. It has a smaller selection of baked goods than the Flour Bakery, but the quality seems similar. They also have a good selection of sandwiches and breakfasts. I had an egg sandwich, scrambled eggs, bacon, cheddar on a buttermilk biscuit. It was a large and tasty sandwich on a delightfully flaky and buttery biscuit. Also bought a couple coconut and marshmallow topped cupcakes that looked pretty good. Again, prices are not cheap but the quality is there to justify the expense.
